I had just finished doing some work on my laptop, I closed the lid and did not notice the pen that was in the hinge. All I heard was a cracking sound and all I could say to myself was “oh no”. I ended up cracking my screen and the lower third of the screen is no longer working. Not sure if I would eventually lose the whole screen I immediately plugged in my hard drive to do a backup. I was thinking to myself that I will get it repaired the next day, how much can a screen be for an 8 year old MacBook Pro? I found out the next day that it would be €650. Would that be worth it for an 8 year old laptop? I mean I can pay a little bit more and get a brand new one. In those 8 years I have never had a problem with it and I have gotten more than my moneys worth out of it.
As I was thinking of what I was going to do, I decided to watch a movie on the IPad Pro that I was given for my birthday. It was only being used mostly for movie and tv show watching. Then it came to mind that there is a magic keyboard that I could use with the iPad, in what many people say is a laptop replacement. I have been thinking about making my travel footprint smaller, so I went down and paid €300 for it. From the moment that I connected the magic keyboard to the iPad I fell in love with it. I was a little hesitant but I imported all of my files from my laptop and downloaded what I thought were essential apps and told myself to do everything on the iPad and do not go back to the laptop. It has been two weeks now and I have not gone back to the laptop at all.
I will continue to keep testing and I look forward to my trip in 2 weeks to see how it holds up. I would recommend that if you are trying to make your travel footprint a little smaller, go with this setup. I will be sure to do an after trip post to give insight on how it help up. Until then…
