I had the time of my life living in Thailand for 4 years, so you can only imagine how thrilled I was to return after 5 years. On my agenda: a reunion with the squad, a little bit of partying, a bit of scuba diving, and much-needed relaxation away from the office.
Let me tell you, my trip to Thailand started off with a splash! I was there during Thai New Year, which is basically one huge water fight that takes over the entire country. And let me tell you, it’s something you’ve got to experience at least once in your life. This year was even more epic because it was the first time in three years that they were able to celebrate it due to the pandemic. Of course, I had to get in on the action, so I grabbed a water gun and joined in on the soaked festivities. It felt amazing to be back in my second home of Thailand and be a part of such an incredible celebration.
I had a blast at the water fight, but my experiences at the Rolling Loud Concert in Asia were a mix of excitement and hiccups. Despite some struggles with things like getting passes, buying drinks, and loading my non-refundable bracelet, I was eager to see the acts they had lined up. I am not the biggest fan of Da Baby, but he really blew me away with his great set, which I think should have been a headline performance. Fat Joe and Rick Ross tried their best, but it was tough to follow that act. The only downside was that the concert was a bit out of the way in Pattaya, so traffic could be a headache. Sadly, I ended up having to leave before seeing the headliners so I could get back more quickly.
After a fun-filled adventure, it was time for some relaxation. I caught a flight to Koh Samui and hopped on a ferry to Koh Tao island. As soon as I arrived, I was engulfed by an atmosphere of complete tranquility and knew I would have a great time. My main intention was to do some diving. I wanted to admire the stunning marine life and also complete some certification requirements on my way to becoming a master scuba diver. Koh Tao’s reputation as a world-class diving spot was not overstated. The marine life was amazing, the reefs were fantastic, and the overall diving experience was simply superb. My last dive was the most incredible of all, I finally saw the one creature on my wishlist, the whale shark. It was a surreal experience to finally see this magnificent animal up close. I felt so privileged because so many people had told me they had come here several times and never caught a glimpse of the whale shark.
It was an amazing trip and my energy is fully restored! But guess what? I’m already gearing up for my next adventure next week to sunny Athens, Greece and then off to indulge in all the Viennese delights in Austria. After that, I’ll be heading back to the Golden State to visit my folks and rev up for an exciting Nascar race. Until then, catch me traveling!
